Our offices were extra colorful on a recent Wednesday, when more than 130 employees proudly wore red to generate awareness for heart health.
Our employees dressed up to celebrate Wear Red Day, an annual event in February that highlights American Heart Association’s work fighting heart disease and stroke as part of American Heart Month. This year had one of the highest participations we’ve seen!
According to statistics recently released by the American Heart Association, on average, someone in the United States passes away every 34 seconds due to cardiovascular disease. Moreover, nearly half of U.S. adults are estimated to have high blood pressure, or hypertension.
In addition to wearing red, we raised funds to support AHA’s research and awareness efforts to reverse these trends and save lives, and even increased our donations by 118% compared to last year! We are grateful to our employees who wore red and joined us in supporting the cause.
Our participation in Wear Red Day is part of our broader commitment to charitable giving through Making An Impact, our corporate citizenship program.
The Making An Impact program connects Boston Mutual Life’s talents and resources to those that foster the company’s core belief in community and family, education, and the environment. In 2023, we supported 165 non-profit organizations across 27 states, including 92 based in Massachusetts and 15 in Nebraska (where our corporate offices are located). 2024 is the program’s 6th year, and in those six years we’ve donated more than $1.5 million to 800+ non-profits!
